Start with your everyday goals.
Your goals may involve moving around at home, walking in the community or taking part in an activity that matters to you. At our Elizabeth Park clinic, we discuss how your disability affects movement and the support you are looking for.
You can involve a family member, support worker or coordinator if you choose. Tell us how you prefer to communicate and about any support arrangements that help you take part.
Assessment and an individual approach.
Your physiotherapist discusses your health history, current supports and relevant goals, then assesses movements or tasks connected with your concerns. Findings and suitable options are explained so you can decide on next steps.
Care may include:
- Exercises connected with your daily movement goals.
- Assessment and practice of relevant balance or walking tasks.
- Strategies to support participation in everyday activities.
- Reviews of your response and changing needs.
Our strength, balance and mobility and exercise rehabilitation pages explain related care options.
Check your plan arrangements first.
Physiotherapy may be an NDIS therapy support when it meets the applicable funding criteria and relates to your disability-related needs. Therapy can involve building or maintaining everyday skills; a clinical appointment alone does not establish NDIS funding approval.
Tell us whether the relevant funding is self-managed, plan-managed or NDIA-managed. For physiotherapy, self-managed and plan-managed participants can generally choose registered or unregistered providers. NDIA-managed funding requires a registered NDIS provider. Contact us before booking to confirm whether we can accept your proposed arrangement.
Discuss the intended service, available plan funding, who will receive invoices and any required service agreement. Your coordinator or plan manager can help clarify these arrangements.
Prepare for your clinic visit.
Bring relevant reports, current exercise advice, goals you want to discuss and details of mobility aids you use. You can share the parts of your plan relevant to physiotherapy. Contact us about communication or access needs before arriving.
With your consent, we can discuss relevant information with people involved in your care. Ask in advance if you need a particular report or coordination activity so suitability and arrangements can be discussed.
