Some extras policies, also called general treatment cover, include out-of-hospital physiotherapy. A hospital policy alone does not necessarily include these appointments. Benefits depend on your policy, the treating provider and the service provided.

Your membership card alone does not confirm a benefit. Ask our team for the appointment and provider details your insurer needs, then check the expected benefit with your fund.
Choose care around your concern.
Your appointment starts with a discussion of your symptoms, health history, activities and goals. Your physiotherapist can explain the assessment findings and suitable care options, which may include exercises, movement advice or a rehabilitation plan.
Explore sports and injury rehabilitation, back and neck care or exercise rehabilitation before booking. Tell us about relevant surgery, previous treatment and advice from your treating team. Your clinical needs and response guide the plan and any recommended reviews.
Understand the claiming arrangements.
Extras benefits may cover only part of the appointment charge. Limits can apply to each service and across the year, and some services may be excluded. Ask about the charge before attending and compare it with the benefit your insurer confirms.
Contact our team about payment and receipt arrangements. Keep your receipt and follow your fund’s claiming process. Your individual entitlement and benefit must be confirmed by your insurer.
What to bring.
Bring your health fund details, relevant reports, any referral you already have and comfortable clothing suitable for assessment. Be ready to discuss what you would like to improve and what is currently difficult.
Private health questions.
Can I claim Medicare and private health for the same visit?
You cannot claim a private health extras benefit for the same out-of-hospital service claimed through Medicare. If you have a GP care plan referral, discuss the claiming pathway before your appointment. Private health does not cover the Medicare gap for that service.
Can I book without extras cover?
Yes. You can arrange a self-funded clinic appointment. Contact our team about the arrangements, or use the standard clinic physiotherapy option online.
Does insurance cover every follow-up?
Not necessarily. Your fund applies its policy rules and remaining limits to each eligible service. Recheck your balance when planning further appointments.
