Before you book

Call us with your claim details first.

Please call 1800 962 113 before your first CTP appointment so we can confirm arrangements with your insurer. Claim acceptance and approved services are decided by the insurer, not by us.

How CTP claims work in South Australia

In SA, injury claims are lodged with the CTP insurer of the at-fault vehicle using an Injury Claim Form from the CTP Insurance Regulator. The insurer then contacts you with a claim number, which you give to your health providers. According to the Regulator, claims should ideally be lodged within six months of the accident.

If a claim is accepted, the insurer covers treatment that is reasonable, necessary and related to injuries from the accident. Insurers may require approval before treatment starts, so check with your claims contact.

What to bring

  • Your claim number and the name of the CTP insurer and your claims contact.
  • Any referral, medical certificate or letters from your GP or hospital.
  • Scan or X-ray reports, if you have had imaging.
  • A note of the activities, work tasks or sport you are finding difficult.

If you don’t have a claim number yet, call us first. You may need to pay for appointments yourself until the claim is accepted.

Common injuries after a car accident

People are often sore after a collision even when there was no obvious injury at the scene. Common concerns physiotherapists assess include whiplash and neck pain, low back pain, shoulder pain and knee or wrist injuries from bracing. Your assessment looks at how the injury is affecting your daily life, work and sleep.

What physiotherapy may involve

  • Assessment of movement, strength and the activities affected.
  • A clear explanation of findings and a plan discussed with you.
  • A graded exercise program and advice to stay active.
  • Hands-on treatment where appropriate and agreed.
  • With consent, progress updates to your GP and insurer.

Recovery time varies between people and injuries. We do not guarantee outcomes.

When to seek medical help first

See a doctor before physiotherapy after any accident with a head knock, loss of consciousness, severe neck pain, numbness, pins and needles or weakness in the arms or legs, or if pain is getting worse.

Physiotherapy is not an emergency service. Call 000 or go to an emergency department for a serious injury, chest pain, sudden weakness or numbness, or if you feel very unwell.
