Before we visit
Call us first – home visits are arranged by phone.
Online booking is for clinic appointments at Elizabeth Park. To arrange a home visit, call 1800 962 113 so our team can check availability for your suburb, the reason for the visit and any referral or funding arrangements.
Who home visits can help
A home visit may be worth discussing if you:
- find it difficult to travel, drive or manage stairs and car transfers;
- have recently come home from hospital or after surgery and are not yet ready to travel;
- are worried about falls, balance or getting around your own house and yard;
- want exercises that fit the space, furniture and equipment you actually have at home;
- need a family member or carer involved who can more easily join at home.
If you can travel, a clinic appointment at Elizabeth Park Healthcare – with free on-site parking, a step-free entrance and an accessible toilet – may be simpler. Our team can help you decide.
What happens at a home visit
A home visit follows the same approach as a clinic appointment. Your physiotherapist talks through your history and goals, then assesses movement, strength and balance – often using real tasks such as getting out of a chair, walking through doorways, managing a step or getting in and out of bed.
Your physiotherapist may then discuss an exercise plan you can do at home, practical tips for everyday tasks, and whether input from your GP, an occupational therapist or other services could help. Any equipment or home-modification suggestions are discussed with you and, where relevant, your GP or care provider.
Where we visit
Home visits cover suburbs within roughly 5–10 km of our Elizabeth Park clinic (1 Gould Rd, Elizabeth Park). Suburbs in that area include:
Within about 5 km: Elizabeth Park, Elizabeth, Elizabeth North, Elizabeth Downs, Elizabeth East, Elizabeth Grove, Elizabeth South, Elizabeth Vale, Davoren Park, Edinburgh North, Smithfield, Smithfield Plains, Craigmore, Hillbank, Blakeview, Andrews Farm, Munno Para.
About 5–10 km: Munno Para West, Munno Para Downs, Penfield, Penfield Gardens, Angle Vale, Salisbury, Salisbury North, Salisbury Park, Salisbury Heights, Salisbury Plain, Salisbury East, Salisbury Downs, Brahma Lodge, Paralowie, Burton, Greenwith, Golden Grove.
Distances are approximate straight-line distances from the clinic, and some larger suburbs extend further, so please call 1800 962 113 with your address before planning around a home visit. Home visits are booked by phone. If you live further away – for example in Gawler – you are welcome at the clinic; see the areas we serve.
Referrals, funding and claims
No referral is needed for a private home visit. If you would like to use a GP care plan, DVA, NDIS, Support at Home, WorkCover or a CTP claim, tell us when you call. Each scheme has its own rules about home visits and approval, so we will check the arrangements with you before the visit. Private health benefits for home visits depend on your fund and level of cover; HICAPS claiming is available at the clinic. See fees and rebates.
Getting the most from a home visit
- Have a list of your medicines and any hospital discharge or surgical instructions handy.
- Keep your usual walking aid, footwear and glasses nearby.
- Think about the one or two tasks at home that matter most to you.
- Let us know about pets, parking or access to your home when you book.
When to seek medical help first
A home visit is not urgent care. If you have had a fall with a possible injury, sudden new weakness, confusion, chest pain or difficulty breathing, seek medical help first.
Physiotherapy is not an emergency service. Call 000 or go to an emergency department for a serious injury, chest pain, sudden weakness or numbness, or if you feel very unwell.
Your physiotherapy appointment.
See Jency Donda, physiotherapist, at our Elizabeth Park clinic – open Mondays 9:00am–5:00pm. Jency speaks English, Gujarati and Hindi. No referral is needed for a private appointment. For a GP care plan, NDIS, DVA, Support at Home, WorkCover or CTP appointment, check the relevant referral and plan information and our fees and rebates page before booking, or contact our team.
